pearCalc as text replacement tool
|
If you place pearCalc in your applications folder you can also use pearCalc as text replacement tool via the services menu. Just define the desired shortcuts (see the shortcuts-section).
No idea what that means? Well, here is an example:
Suppose you want pearCalc to replace your initials with your complete address, the following steps are involved:
- Open a text editor and type in your initials then a tab and then your address (you can use multiple lines for the address, just remember to delimit the shortcut - your initials - from the replacement - your address - by a tab).
- Now open the preferences pane of pearCalc (simply type in prefs) and switch to the shortcuts-tab. Now select the text in the text editor and drag&drop it to the shortcuts-list in the pearCalc preferences. Now close the pearCalc preferences pane.
- Finally test it (i.e. in TextEdit). Type in your initials, select them and run the pearCalc service. Now your initials should be replaced by your address.
Please note, that the text replacement function is only available in service-enabled applications.
