Launch PhotoStickies and open one or more images and directories (open panels support selection of multiple items), URLs, favorites, or the clipboard (this is only possible if the clipboard contains an image). You can also drop multiple images or folders onto PhotoStickies or right-click them in the Finder and choose PhotoStickies from the Open With sub-menu of the contextual menu.
In addition, PhotoStickies scans HTML pages for common applet based webcams or uses the first image of an HTML page (especially useful if the URL of the images changes regularly or after each frame) but usually it's highly recommended to enter a valid image URL.
Arranging images
- Arrange stickies on your Desktop by dragging them.
- Change their size using the zoom commands in the Display menu.
Some possible zoom levels:
-
Actual size: Zooms to the full size of the picture using the resolution information embedded into the picture.
-
All pixels: Zooms to the full size of the picture ignoring the picture's resolution information.
-
Fill screen: Zooms to full screen size maintaining the aspect ratio.
-
Full screen: Zooms to full screen size ignoring the aspect ratio.
Window levels
Send one or all stickies to top, normal (default for new windows) or back level.
-
Top: In front of all windows but behind the Dock and the menu bar ('Overlay window').
-
Normal: Standard level for new windows.
-
Back: In front of the desktop but behind its icons.
Every back level sticky has a unique level so that the window ordering isn't affected by clicking on windows or dragging them. Double-click such stickies to order them in front of all other back level windows.
Note: Sometimes panels, e.g. Preferences or Open Location, of PhotoStickies might be hidden behind stickies floating on the top. Close, minimize, or shrink those stickies or move them around to access the panels again.
